Ever since I picked up and played a Pokemon game for the first time, I’ve been an avid lover of the games, show (but not that ridiculously dumb Ash Ketchum) and participant in the fandom. My favorite generation was the first, but it is only slightly above the third. I became a Genwunner after feeling mass disappointment with Diamond and Pearl, and then again with Black and White. I was concerned that Pokemon was degenerating and ruining its own former glory by creating abominations like Trubbish and Vanillite…
But I digress.
All that said, as the leaks and reveals leading up to the release of X and Y came out, I have to say that I felt excitement and I could barely wait until October 12. Finally, when I sat down and started playing, I was instantly enthralled by all the new features, mechanics, and stunning beauty that the game has. After just a few minutes of play and getting to know the newer Pokemon and characters, I immediately felt the same fervor and pure enjoyment that initially was reserved for the Kanto region. The story was wonderful, the characters interesting and special, and the new Pokemon ingenious. I have no complaints. Every aspect of the game was payed the utmost attention down to the very smallest minute details. This level of care and passion put into the game is what makes it so thoroughly entertaining. It’s what I’ve missed and all I ever needed to enjoy Pokemon as I did when I was a child.
Pokemon X and Y have my support, and Nintendo my appreciation.
