Byron is a partner at Bessemer’s Menlo Park, Calif. office, having joined the firm in 2005. At Bessemer, he focuses on investments in the cloud-computing and Internet sectors.
Prior to joining Bessemer, Byron was a successful cloud CEO. He most recently worked as an executive at IBM after the company’s 2004 acquisition of Trigo Technologies. Byron served as founding president & CEO of Trigo, which grew to profitability, amassed 150 employees and logged a $40+ million revenue run-rate. Bessemer worked closely with Byron and the executive team after Trigo’s founding and invested in all institutional financing rounds.
Byron was named to the Forbes Midas List in 2012 and 2013.
Nobody knows the cloud and enterprise solutions like Byron. He invested in the first round with Cornerstone OnDemand, (IPO 2011, current market cap: $1.1billion) and software-as-a-service company Eloqua, which in 2011 filed for an IPO. Other hot investments include French online ad technology company Criteo, cloud telecom company Twilio, and Box.net, which raised $81 million reportedly at more than a $600 million valuation.
