2013 Gaming Resolutions

With my game time still currently on life support thanks to our new, three-month old, I thought it might be fitting to start  2013 with a few gaming related resolutions. Like any New Years resolutions, only time will tell if I have to will power to stick to these  over the new year – but it’ll be an interesting experiment either way I suppose. It’s not a huge list mind you – only two resolutions actually, but two that will be very challenging to stick to no doubt.

Resolution #1 – Finish Backlog

First up for 2013, I am going to aggressively attack my gaming backlog one title at a time. The current count for un-played games in my library stands at 49 spread across my Xbox 360, PS3, PS Vita, 3DS and iOS.

Some of these titles I purchased as far back as 2010 which is absurd that they have gone untouched for so long. 49 games is more than enough to keep me busy throughout 2013 – which I’m counting on to make sticking to my next resolution that easier…

Resolution #2 – No new game purchases until Black Friday

Out of the two resolutions, this one is no doubt going to be more difficult for me. I love being there day 1 for new titles, and there are plenty of games I am eagerly anticipating this year such as Bioshock Infinite, Aliens: Colonial Marines, Gears of War Judgement and Tomb Raider to name a few. Alas, this year I am resigning myself to watch the fanfare from the sidelines and miss out on whatever pre-order treats ship along side these titles. My gaming dollars will stay locked firmly in my wallet until they are  unleashed on Friday, November 29th for a massive shopping spree.

One huge threat to Resolution #2 is the prospect of a new Xbox coming this holiday season. Not sure how I’m going to weight that into the equation, as I doubt I have to self control to remain an entire generation behind. Will deal with that one as it comes I suppose. New consoles aside, if I can manage to stick to these two resolutions it will be a rinse and repeat for 2014.

Wish me luck!

Happy Gaming New Year to everyone.
