GamesBeat Will Tiger Woods 14 be a swing and a miss? January 23, 2013 4:10 PM Luke Westwood This post has not been edited by the GamesBeat staff. Opinions by GamesBeat community writers do not necessarily reflect those of the staff. Since 98 we have had the yearly release of the Tiger Woods game series but in the last couple of years the games have really began to show how good they are. Most sports games only ever have small changes, which we can all agree is something we cannot change as sport never really changes. But over the last couple of years the Tiger Woods series has tried to move away from this and change. The most notable change of the last couple of years in the Tiger Woods “Legacy Mode” this mode was something that gave you the opportunity to take controller of Tiger before he was the excellent and world class golfer that we all know so well. That was in 2013 but lets not forget that the year before we saw the first introduction of the Masters tournament at Augusta National Golf Club (as well as the first time that Tiger himself was not on the box) What does 2014 need to do to get a hole in one? Well its simple, it needs to have it own game mode that makes it stand out from its predecessors. This year we get “Legends of the Masters mode” where the players will be able to compete in notable and historic tournaments from the 1930’s to the present day, as well as offering the players the career mode that has been present in so many of the other Tiger Woods games. The game will also include over 25 golfers including Tiger Woods, Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Bobby Jones as well as others that will be available as you battle to rewrite the history books. This may be a clever thing on EA’s part as it may open the game up to the older generation of gamers or fans of golf that have never really gave a Tiger Woods game the time of day. http://youtu.be/jwp2k9U3CZY This Trailer shows some of the greats that will be available to play as or against in the game (the character Models look amazing) Make way for the ladies. The game will also include the LPGA game mode. For the first time since the franchise started you will now have the opportunity to take you’re female golfer to LPGA supremacy and play as or against Lexi Thompson as well as others. To me this is a welcome addition to the game and might even open it up to the female golf fans figures crossed. NIGHT GOLF? What is night golf when its at home well its exactly what it says on the box it is a mode that will allow you to take a break from the long-winded grind of the PGA tour and play golf in the dark. If you are like me this really doesn’t sound to appealing but taking a break from the tour every now and then to play in the dark with an illuminated golf ball might be a nice little change. The regular edition of the game will have the most courses ever available on the disk a grand total of 20 It doesn’t seem like a lot when you put it that way but to fans of the franchise this is great news. If you are anything like me you will be wondering about the Masters Historical Edition and what makes it so different from the so-called normal edition of the game. Well from what I have seen so far the Masters Historical Edition is a must buy for fans of the series as it contains the Inaugural Augusta National Invitation Tournament that happened back in 1934. Alongside this you will be able to use the clothing, the equipment and a similar play style to what you would have seen back in 1934 this was made with a great amount of research by the developers. You will also get to play the course as it was back in 1934 as it has been modified to reflect its state back then. Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 14: The Masters Historic Edition will contain a copy of the game, a walkthrough of the original Augusta course, the Green Jacket ceremony and more. http://youtu.be/SHvISm8Kliw The Trailer for the Tiger Woods PGA Tour Masters Historical Edition as you can see in this trailer it shows us some of the Augusta Golf Course as well as the character models we will see in the game. Yes, Yes Kinect compatibility will still be in the game even though I never used it in 2013 because in my books it was broken it was one of the main reasons I decided to actually buy the game but it still never got any use as it doesn’t seem to give you the same control and precision that the controller does. This was a big let down to me as I thought at last something I can play on my Kinect that wont tier me out or make me want to throw the thing out of the window. Lets hope that this time round it works for me. Overall the next Tiger Woods game sounds and looks like it will be a blast for fans of the series. Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14 will be available on Both PS3 and Xbox 360 on the 26th March in the US and the 28th March World Wide and will have Tiger Woods and Arnold Palmer on the box.
