Spotify brings the jams to Windows Phone 7

Spotify joins fellow on-demand streaming services Rdio and Rhapsody, which also offer Windows Phone 7 apps. While Spotify has captured the most headlines, it has lagged in the mobile space by not fully fleshing out its iOS and Android apps. It also recently launched an app for a limited number of BlackBerry models. But the Windows Phone 7 app looks like it may be the best mobile app for Spotify yet.

Aol’s new online radio service is powered by pros, not your friends

Aol Radio has relaunched. With all the buzz around super-social music apps like Spotify and Turntable.fm, you’d think the company would have jumped on that trendy bandwagon. But the new Aol Radio will be powered by Slacker Radio. While there will be some social integrations in a few months, social media is not a primary source of data for an programmatic, algorithmic approach to serving up songs.

Microsoft drops Zune Music Pass to $9.99, brings Zune to Canada

The streaming music service landscape is increasingly competitive with companies such as Spotify, MOG and Rdio battling for the hearts and ears of music fans. But Zune is at least interesting because it’s targeting Microsoft users specifically, offering interaction between Windows Phone 7, Xbox 360, Windows PC, Zune MP3 players and Zune.net. Zune, however, does lose out because it doesn’t work on rival iOS and Android mobile platforms.
