Verizon fixes technical issue blamed for nationwide 4G LTE outage
Wireless provider Verizon is America’s favorite national network, but it is not immune to an occasional case of the sniffles. A technical issue is being blamed for a service disruption that knocked out 4G LTE service to wireless customers nationwide, and left them without high-speed voice, data and SMS service. The disruption began on Tuesday evening and was resolved by Wednesday night.

Metrics for Microshops: Frogtek wins $206,000 to help shopkeepers in emerging countries
Spanish-American startup Frogtek just won the biggest competition for European mobile startups, Vodafone Mobile Clicks, with its app to help small shopkeepers in emerging markets run their businesses.
According to Frogtek, a Mexican stall-like, microretailer stocks an average of 1,000 products from 25 vendors and is often managed with nothing more sophisticated than a paper notebook. Frogtek wants to change all that with the help of the $206,000 (150,000 EUR) prize.

Vodafone plants roots in the Valley with Xone R&D Center
Vodafone, the world’s largest mobile carrier by revenue, is making its presence known in the U.S. today with the launch of its Xone research and development center in Silicon Valley.
