Dear VGA’s, Where’s The Hall of Fame Award?

The Video Game Award's have improved significantly over the years. I mean when Samuel L. Jackson is the host and Linkin Park is performing, you're probably at the right place. The 2012 VGA's did not disappoint. I think I counted 4 awards being given out, but that's nothing compared to some of the trailers we saw. The one that sticks out the most to me is The Phantom Pain. I have no idea what the gameplay for that game will be like, but that trailer was badass. I was hoping to see a Fallout 4 announcement, but I'm happy it wasn't announced. I'd rather wait another 5 years for the next Fallout than to play another rushed game. As good as the 2012 VGA's were, there was one thing that was noticeably missing besides myself. Where was the Hall of Fame Award VGA's?

Fallout 4 in Boston Would Be Awesome

If Fallout 4 is set in Boston, the first thing I'm doing is heading North. I live 10 miles north of Boston and am curious to see if my city gets the post apocalyptic treatment that only the Fallout series can deliver. Boston is the perfect city for the Fallout series, but it's not that big. There's plenty to do in the city, but you can pretty much walk anywhere in Boston if you're feeling adventurous.

If I Could Change One Thing About The PS Vita

If I could change one thing about the Playstation Vita it would definitely be the game slot. In order to insert a game cartridge, you must open the slot that is placed on the top of the Vita. When I first got my Vita, I had the hardest time the game slot. My nails aren't that long so I had to pick at it in order to open it. When I finally was able to open it, I noticed that my method of picking at the slot resulted in parts of the game slot being chipped. That's not cute for a device that I just paid almost $300 dollars for. If Sony had designed the game slot to be open like the 3DS I wouldn't have cosmetic damage on the first day with my Vita.

Playstation Vita: 3G vs Wi-Fi

I'm having the hardest time deciding which PlayStation Vita to buy on launch day. On one hand you have the Wi-Fi model which is $249.99 and on the other you have the 3G model for $299.99. Being a gamer on a budget my natural inclination is to go with the Wi-Fi model because it costs less. After some research I'm not sure the Wi-Fi model is the best deal. Here's some reasons why.

Feeling Skeptical about Resident Evil 6? Me Too.

Let's cut straight to the chase. Resident Evil 5 was not good. The best thing about Resident Evil 5 was the graphics. The story was wack. The plot spends the whole time trying to surprise you, but I saw the plots twists coming from a mile away. The clues were so obvious. You would think a game with a weak plot would have a great gameplay. Unfortunately that's not the case with Resident Evil 5.

Playstation Vita Boston Meetup Impressions

Welcome to the Vita Hill Social Club. That's the name of the pop up shop where gamers around the United States are allowed to experience the Playstation Vita before it hits stores next month. The shops will be open until launch and allow gamers to try out various games on the Playstation Vita. Today was the official meetup for the Vita Hill Social Club in Boston Massachusetts. I was one of the people who attended, and I figured I'd share my thoughts about the experience.

PAX Easter 2012

PAX East 2012 falls later in the year than usual. Instead of a tradition weekend in March, PAX East will be held the weekend of April 6th – 8th, 2012. That happens to be the weekend Easter Sunday falls. Make sure you get your passes to PAX Easter. You don't want to be left out on the first annual PAX Easter.

The Pros & Cons of Using Gamefly

I've been a member of Gamefly since August 2009. In those two years I've been an overall satisfied customer. There have been a few hiccups here and there, but the service has been solid. A friend asked me if Gamefly was worth it? I put this list of pros and cons together to help you decide whether or not you should subscribe to Gamefly. If anybody who has a Gamefly account has anything to add feel free.

Why the 2011 VGA’s Rocked

Ladies and gentleman I stand corrected. I had every expectation that the 2011 Video Game Awards were going to be two hours of boring television. Boy was I was wrong. The 2011 VGA's were great. Really great. I enjoyed watching it from beginning to end. Here are some reasons why the 2011 Video Game Awards Rocked.

Why The VGA’s Matter

It's that time of the year again folks. The last month of the year means we have to spend one of our weekend nights watching Spike TV for the Video Game Awards. The VGA's is like a dentist appointment. I don't look forward to going, but I have to go. The VGA's might not be fun to watch, but they do matter. Here's why.

Why I Want the Special Edition of Skyward Sword

I can't even remember the last time I played my Wii. If I remember correctly I was playing Donkey Kong Returns last November. It's sad. I see it everyday in my living room collecting dust. It saddens me to think that I could have traded in my Wii a year ago and not even missed it. The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is the only reason why I haven't traded in my Wii.

Why Multiple Characters in #GTAV Doesn’t Make Sense

I don't believe the rumor of multiple playable characters in #GTAV after watching the trailer. It doesn't make sense. If that was the case more than one person would be narrating their story in the first trailer for the game. Remember the trailer to GTA IV? "Perhaps here will be different" was spoken by the main character Niko Bellic. Alternative characters come in the downloadable content. If you remember, The Ballad of Gay Tony & The Lost & the Damned put different perspectives on the same story. I bet #GTAV will do the same thing.

What the Hell is a Deus Ex?

Forgive my ignorance but what the hell is Deus Ex? All's I know is it's a PC game that came out 10 years ago. My knowledge of PC games is limited to Call of Duty 2 and The Sims. My PC doesn't turn on, but it has an ATI Radeon X700 video card inside of it. I'm guessing that a pretty dated graphics, but I was able to play the Sims 2 on high settings with no problem.

Nintendo 3DS Buyers Guide

So you bought a Nintendo 3DS. Let me be the first to say welcome to the family. They say I should be upset about paying $250 dollars for something that's price went down in less than 6 months. Truth is I'm not upset. The Nintendo 3DS is the only thing I videogame console I play and has been since I bought it. Before the price went down I had invested 300 hours into Street Fighter 3D. It's safe to say I got my moneys worth. This post isn't about me though, it's about you and your new 3DS. With any new console comes questions and I'm here to help answer them.

Legend of Zelda 3D Impressions

The first time I played The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time was on the Nintendo Gamecube. I got a copy of the Master Quest version after I preordered Legend of Zelda: WindWaker. I was excited to play it after years of hearing how it was one of the best videogames ever released. I played it for maybe 2 hours and was done. I couldn't get over how dated the games graphics looked on my Gamecube. A big selling point of Ocarina of Time when it was announced on the Nintendo 3DS was Nintendo reworked the textures and animations to make the graphics look a lot better. I won't be the last to say that Ocarina of Time is a good looking game on the Nintendo 3DS.

The Summer Flood of 2011

Grab a raincoat ladies and gentlemen. The forecast has more videogames coming our way.  Make sure to check out Catherine on July 26th, and No More Heroes: Paradise on August 16th. Catherine has me interested. Mostly because it looks like some time of hentai from the promo pictures I've seen. The game should come with a guarantee that boners will be had during gameplay. I already know the deal with No More Heroes.

Redbox Videogame Impressions

Redbox recently announced that they are adding videogame to their rental kiosks nationwide. Good news for people like me who live in places where their local Blockbuster and other videogame rental services are out of business due to the economy. Last night I saw a Redbox with the sticker "Games Are Here!" and decided to investigate. Here are some suggestions for I came up with for Redbox Videogame Rentals.

We Want Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5

It's about time Tony Hawk made a comeback. The once best selling skateboarding franchise has become a symbol of failure in the gaming industry. It would be a shame to have the series end on a such a low note. Neversoft needs to remind us why we love the Tony Hawk franchise. It's time to bring back Tony Hawk's Pro Skater.

E3 2011 Awards: Best Host

Best Host Award goes to Jack Tretton for his presentation during Sony's Press Conference. He came out throughout the show and kept it moving. Some of the presenters tried to take him off his game by making fun of his wealth and fashion, but their jokes fell flat. That was a really nice tie by the way. The way it matches his shirt is awesome. Well done.

E3 Unboxed

=Nintendo is expected to walk away with the best show at E3. I'm not so sure about that. Project Cafe has been making headlines ever since it was announced as the codename for Nintendo's next console. Stories ranging from Project Cafe supporting HD graphics to the controller being a portable console sound cool, but what about the videogames? I've heard speculation about two titles that might end up on Project Cafe. Super Mario Galaxy 3 and The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. If Zelda shows up as a launch title on the Project Cafe then Nintendo is off to a bad start.

Errol’s E3 Predictions

E3. The time when the videogame industry announces it's plans for the future. The place where gaming journalists who are too arrogant to make friends come together to say "fuck you" to the people who couldn't make it. I live for this shit. The Big 3 always dictate how successful E3 is going to be. Based off the stuff that we already know this years E3 is lining up to be special.

Is the Nintendo 3DS a Flop

Would you be surprised if I told you the Nintendo DS outsold the Nintendo 3DS last month? It's true. The Nintendo DS sold 257,000 units while the Nintendo 3DS sold 194,000 units in the month of April 2011. I was surprised at first, but after some thought it wasn't that surprising.

E3 is my destiny. I didn't know what a gaming convention was until I went to the inaugural PAX East in 2010. It didn't take long for me to realize I was built for this. I have possible interviews with both Jim Sterling & Hood News arranged for E3. I feel important.

RIP Motorstorm Apocalypse

Motorstorm Apocalypse can't get a break. The game was scheduled to be released a week after a 9.0 Earthquake struck Japan, and was delayed around the world as a result. The delays began in Japan and trickled to Europe which also scheduled Motorstorm Apocalypse to be released a week after the Earthquake in Japan. The delay in Europe was understandable. I figured the release date of April 12th in North America would be solid since it would be a month since the disaster. I was wrong. Days after delaying the game in Europe Sony announced they were delaying the release of Motorstorm Apocalypse in North America. I knew the game was doomed after that.

Dance Games Aren’t What They Used to Be

Whatever happened to the good old days when dance games weren't so physical? I might get laughed at if I showed up with a Playstation control to play Dance Dance Revolution. Dance Central is the next generation of the dance genre which is bittersweet. On one hand it's great to see the genre evolve into something that actually teaches people how to dance. On the other it's sad to see the controller become obsolete.

Dragon Age II vs The Gays

The gays are mad at David Gaider. They want him fired for stereotyping homosexual characters in Dragon Age II. If you refuse to seduce a gay character you are given rivalry points towards your friendship with that character. Rivalry points suggest your relationship with a homosexual character will have tension because you won't act on the gay characters sexual desire.

March Madness

It's been an interesting week for videogames. Duke Nukem Forever is delayed again (surprise surprise.) It will now be in stores June 14th instead of it's projected May 3rd date. Duke Nukem Forever better be the most polished game I've ever seen. I'm still not convinced to even rent the game so you better prove yourself in reviews Duke Nukem.

I should finish Dead Space 2

I've had Dead Space 2 since January, and I haven't beat it. GameFly doesn't seem to mind, but it bothers me. It's not that the game sucks. It's the best thing 2011 has to offer if you ask me. I'm still on Chapter 10. I refuse to return it until I finish the story. I must see what happens to my friend Issac.
