Is the gaming community more interested in the games or what’s under the hood?

Sure, open-world games have evolved, but gamer expectations and desires have evolved as well. At least for me. No longer is mayhem just the means and end, I play it with something more in mind.
I track the slow realization that I came to resent something I once loved, something that is becoming more and more common with gamers trying to hold on to what they once enjoyed and no longer can.
As much as we can laud the storytelling of The Last of Us, we shouldn’t demand the same from all games.
The storyteller is more important than the story itself, and right now, Sony’s voice is bringing much-needed confidence to consumers.
