Monster, the giant job listing company, has acquired Silicon Valley’s Affinity Labs, a company that runs several online community sites — including for police officer, healthcare employees, teachers, government employees and technologists. The purchase price was about $61 million.

Affinity Labs, an information portal, raises less than $10M
Affinity Labs, a San Francisco online portal company that will serve groups with more information about their communities than they already get through alternative media, has raised less than $10 million in a first round of financing from Mayfield and Trinity, according to VentureWire (sub required). It will start by targeting police and nurses.
