BlackLight Power signs sixth utility deal to produce power from water

BlackLight Power, one of the more controversial and mysterious cleantech solutions on the market, announced today that it has landed a commercial licensing deal with Maryland-based utility Akridge Energy. This is the sixth such contract for the company, which claims to have technology capable of generating energy using only water.

For background, BlackLight says it lowers the energy level of hydrogen atoms below ground state — something most scientists have deemed impossible. For this reason, many… Continue Reading

BlackLight Power lands first license agreement for electricity from … water?

BlackLight Power, one of the more outlandish cleantech companies VentureBeat has covered, claims to have developed a way to generate 200 times more energy than coal using only water. To do so, BlackLight says it lowers the energy level of hydrogen atoms below ground state — something most scientists have deemed impossible. For this reason, many have speculated that BLP’s process is nothing more than an elaborate hoax. But today’s announcement of an inaugural licensing… Continue Reading

Blacklight Power bolsters its impossible claims of a new renewable energy source

Ask nearly any physicist if it’s possible for a hydrogen atom to enter a lower energy state than the ground, or resting state they hold in nature, and you’re likely to get an unequivocal “no.” But a tiny company in New Jersey called Blacklight Power has been disputing that assumption for over a decade, and of late, making gadfly claims that its founder says will overturn the accepted scientific order.

To a regular person, of course, disputes… Continue Reading

Blacklight Power claims nearly-free energy from water — is this for real?

Blacklight Power claims nearly-free energy from water — is this for real?

Blacklight Power, a company founded by a Harvard medical doctor called Randell Mills, says it can push hydrogen atoms into a state that most scientists deny exists.

The company claims that energy this atomic push releases can create electricity for a single cent per kilowatt hour, less than any known process, including burning cheap, dirty coal. The company says it can do so with a non-polluting, self-perpetuating process that mostly feeds itself with common water.

Breakthrough… Continue Reading
