Semantic search engine Evri cuts staff by 25 percent
Evri, the search engine that lets you track keyword results across the web, confirmed today that it has cut its staff by 25 percent to better weather the economic downturn. Chief executive Neil Roseman says the Seattle-based company is doing well, having recently landed two major partnerships, but that it’s necessary to trim costs in case the market slumps further.

Daylife infuses news portals with Select tool
Website content provider Daylife announced today that it will launch a new service called Daylife Select that will let online publishers create their own customizable portals leading to a vast array of web content. For example, publishers can choose to aggregate YouTube videos, Flickr photos, Wikipedia entries, etc. on their own websites.

Daylife, a way for publishers to increase news offerings, raises $8.3M
Daylife, a company that helps publishers find ways to add other content to their Web sites, has raised an $8.3 million round of funding.
The round was led by Balderton Capital, formerly Benchmark Capital Europe, and included venture firm Arts Alliance, the company said in a statement.
The Daylife technology searches for relationships between news, newsmakers, timelines, photos, trends and more, and offers relevant news up for a site’s readers.
