IBM toes the green line with energy-efficient modular data centers

Big Blue announced today that it was introducing a suite of new energy efficient technologies and services to help businesses struggling with surging costs and tougher sustainability requirements. The big push is for “modular”: IBM will sell miniature versions of its data centers that come pre-assembled and cut energy consumption in half.

Microsoft laying down $100 million for desktop virtualization firm Kidaro

Microsoft must be set on the idea of acquisitions as the major driver for growth and innovation in the company, because it’s adding to its lengthy list of recent acquisitions with a hefty offer for Kidaro, a desktop virtualization firm. The price hasn’t been disclosed by the companies involved, but according to the Israeli publication Globes, it’s $100 million.

Kidaro raises $10M for virtual desktop product for companies

Kidaro (www.kidaro.com), an Israeli company that sells a virtual desktop computing product for enterprises (enabling remote workers to access their files securely) has raised $10 million in venture capital.

This is a hot area right now. We’ve witten about “virtualization” technology here.

The latest round was led by Opus Capital, and included existing investors Genesis Partners and Storm Ventures. Opus Capital General Partner Dan Avida will join Kidaro’s Board of Directors.
