Kleiner Perkins backs former CBS mobile chief
Cyriac Roeding was the head of mobile at CBS and more recently an entrepreneur in residence at Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers. Roeding’s first startup of his own, a stealth company called Cross-Platform Corp, has raised $2.5 million from KPCB, angel investor Reid Hoffman, and other investors. Moconews.net speculates that the company may be iPhone-related, because the company’s SEC filings list Matt Murphy, who handles KCPB’s iFund, as a board member.

VCs pass $100M in iPhone funding
Among companies developing solely for the iPhone, social network startups have drawn more VC investment money than games, according to startup investment tracker Chubby Brain’s latest set of charts. Listing 22 rounds of funding for 17 companies, Chubby accounted for over $100 million in investments, with a median level of $3.45 million.
