If you thought Pirates of Silicon Valley was inaccurate, just wait until you see what the Funny or Die folks have done with its recounting of Steve Jobs’ life, iSteve.

The comedy site last night released the 80-minute film — its longest project yet — for free viewing online. At the time of this post, iSteve has already racked up more than 123,000 views.

The film stars Justin Long as Steve Jobs, and Lost’s Jorge Garcia as Steve Wozniak (who I’m sure finds this all hilarious). Personally, I’m more excited to see James Urbaniak’s take on Bill Gates.

Even though it started out as a simple idea for a fake Steve Jobs movie trailer, iSteve may end up becoming one of Funny or Die’s most important releases. The film was written and shot in eight days, so expect things to be a bit rough. But the fact that it actually exists shows that the Internet isn’t just a place for short cat videos.

Funny or Die was founded by comedian Will Ferrell and director Adam McKay, who’ve collaborated on such classics as Anchorman, Talladega Nights, and Step Brothers. The site saw viral success early on with The Landlord, a short featuring McKay’s pint-sized daughter berating Ferrell. So far, that video has been viewed more than 80 million times.

File this one under too good to be true: Mike Judge, the comedy genius behind Office Space, King of the Hill, and Beavis and Butt-Head, is working on a dark comedy pilot for HBO called Silicon Valley.

According to Deadline, the pilot will shoot in Spring 2013 and will be directed by Judge. Legendary Hollywood producer Scott Rudin, who also produced The Social Network, will executive produce the show alongside Judge and his King of the Hill colleagues John Altschuler and Dave Krinsky.

Not surprisingly, it will be set among the modern Silicon Valley gold rush “where the people most qualified to succeed are the least capable of handling success,” Deadline wrote.

I’m a big fan of Judge’s ability to deconstruct and mock idiots (see the hilarious, terrifying, and downright prescient Idiocracy), so I’m excited to see how his particular brand of humor translates to the world of startups. Between nonsense business ideas, exorbitant hype, and silly startup names, Judge surely has a lot to make fun of. It’s also a much-needed antidote to Bravo’s Silicon Valley reality show.

So far it looks like HBO has only ordered a pilot for the show, but if it turns out well it could lead to more episodes, and hopefully a full season.
