Irrepressible widget-maker RockYou targets Asia, raises $17M
RockYou, a company that started out two years ago making simple slideshow widgets for MySpace, and, more recently, applications for social networks including Facebook, is now invading Asia.
It has taken on strategic funding and sweet deals from big regional partners: $14 million from Japanese carrier Softbank, which is the largest shareholder in Yahoo Japan, and $3 million from the venture arm of Korean carrier SK Telecom.

Add live TV and more battery life to your iPhone for $100 — if you live in Japan
Want live TV on your iPhone? Well, you’ll soon be able to have it. If you live in Japan. Japanese mobile carrier Softbank announced today that it will begin selling a TV tuner add-on for the iPhone, AppleInsider reports.

SoftBank announces the iPhone in Japan. SoftBank only offers 3G phones. Put two and two together.
SoftBank, the Japanese mobile company, issued what has to be one of the shortest press releases ever tonight to announce that it had signed an agreement to bring the iPhone to Japan later this year.
“SOFTBANK MOBILE Corp. today announced it has signed an agreement with Apple® to bring the iPhone™ to Japan later this year.”
