Blockbuster claims to open the distribution floodgates — floodgates holding the details remain shut.
On one hand, you want to give Blockbuster credit for at least trying to save itself. But on the other, it’s hard to give credit to a company that perpetually seems a day late and a dollar short.

Sonic Solutions buys digital video distributor CinemaNow
Media software provider Sonic Solutions announced today that it will buy CinemaNow, a company that serves digital video downloads through various platforms. It’s a sweet deal for Sonic, which will not only inherit the smaller company’s inventory of 6,000 movies, shows and videos, but also its connections with more then 250 content producers, including the major Hollywood studios.

Sonic acquires Simple Star to expand multimedia sharing for Roxio
Sonic Solutions said it has agreed to acquire the assets of Simple Star. Sonic’s Roxio digital media products will make use Simple Star’s PhotoShow multimedia storytelling platform and online community.
