CES: Are 3-D glasses moving beyond the gimmick stage? Nah

Before my trip to the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas last week, I predicted that TV and computer makers would be hawking 3-D options in order to differentiate themselves. ViewSonic, liquid-crystal display maker, files for IPO

ViewSonic Corp. has filed for initial public offering of up to $143.75 million in common stock.

The Walnut, Calif., maker of liquid-crystal displays for monitors, televisions and other products, earned $3.97 million in the quarter ending March 31, compared with $3.5 million in the same period a year earlier. Sales increased to $409.8 million from $326.8 million

The company was backed by Intel Capital.
