Yola, one of the better-known among a recent wave of easy-to-use website building tools, just announced that it has hit the 2 million user milestone. That means it doubled its user base in about six months, after taking more than a year to hit the 1 million user mark.

Ribbit, Sprout inject “voice” into ad campaigns
Ribbit, the company that lets people easily create phone-like applications within Web sites, has struck a partnership with the online marketing company Sprout to insert “voice” and other phone features into advertising campaigns.

SynthaSite no more — website builder now called Yola

Starting today, free website builder SynthaSite has a new name — Yola.
Normally, I don’t spend time worrying about branding, as long as a company name isn’t egregiously stupid. Still, I was a bit confused by the move, since SynthaSite seems like a clearer and more obvious name than Yola, and the San Francisco company already reached one million users under the old name.
