Index Ventures launches sixth fund for European investments

U.S. and European venture capital firm Index Ventures announced a €350 million fund for primarily early-stage European investments late Sunday. The firm said it’s impressed by the innovation it’s seeing in Europe despite economics issues that have plagued the area for several years. Some of the fund will go towards U.S.-based startups as well.


Digital ad company OpenX acquires LiftDNA

Ad company OpenX, which helps publishers and enterprise companies sell valuable ad space, said today it has acquired LiftDNA, which helps find untapped ad sources and track how much money publishers make off of ad campaigns.

Etsy lands $20M, bringing valuation to nearly $300M, hires ex-Googler as COO

It’s a busy time for e-commerce site Etsy, which focuses on handmade arts and crafts. The company announced yesterday that it has snagged $20 million in its fifth round of funding, led by Index Ventures. And just this morning, it was revealed that former Google international executive Adam Freed (pictured) is joining the company as COO, reports All Things Digital’s Kara Swisher.
