Intuitive Surgical buys NeoGuide for less invasive surgical tech
Intuitive Surgical, provider of large robotic surgical equipment, announced its acquisition of NeoGuide Systems, a San Jose, Calif., company that makes minimally invasive surgical devices. Financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed. Intuitive says it doesn’t have a specific application for NeoGuide’s technology yet but is most interested in devices that access the body through the mouth, reports VentureWire.

Qumu raises $10.7M for enterprise video
Qumu, which provides the infrastructure for the use of video communication in a corporate environment, has raised $10.7 million in a third round of funding. The round was led by Advanted Technology Ventures.
The Emeryville, Calif. startup’s enables live and on-demand webcasts, recorded video conferences, employee training executive briefings and product announcements. Customers include AT&T, Dell, Microsoft and eBay.

Sonoma Orthopedics raises at least $10M for spinal devices
Sonoma Orthopedics, a stealthy spinal-device maker in Santa Rosa, Calif., raised at least $10 million in a second funding round, VentureWire reports. The company raised $3 million in a first round last April.
Sonoma Orthopedics is at work on devices that repair or reinforce bones from the inside. MedVenture Associates led the round, and was joined by existing investors EDF Ventures, Asset Management, Halo Fund and Angel’s Forum.
Mobile Content Networks, a search co., raises more money
Mobile Content Networks, a Mountain View, Calif. company that provides mobile search software, said it has raised a second round of funding led by Meritage Funds.
The amount was undisclosed. (Update: VentureWire reports the amount was $10 million).
Other investors were Dentsu.com, Netage Capital Partners, UniqueLab, Suneight and Intellect Capital Ventures. The company, which also has offices in Japan and Finland, will use the funds to market MobileSearch.net, its search management platform.

Mobile Content Networks, a Palo Alto start-up that offers a mobile search technology to third parties, has raised a $6 million first round of venture capital.
The funding comes from Meritage Funds, Frontera Group LLC and The Angels’ Forum, VentureWire reports (sub required).
