Spinal Kinetics, maker of artificial disks used to treat spine injuries and degenerative diseases, has brought in $5.3 million of an anticipated $9.5 million round of debt, rights and securities, according to a filing with the SEC. Entone, maker of set-top box technology, raises $12M more
Entone, a San Mateo, Calif. company that provides receiver and gateway technology for delivering Internet television to living room set-top boxes, said it has raised $12 million in new capital.
The move comes after Entone sold part of its technology — its video networking software business — to Harmonic for $45 million late last year.
Menlo Ventures and BA Venture Partners are the investors in Entone’s latest round, reports VentureWire (sub required).

Glu Mobile, mobile publisher, raises $84M in IPO
Glu Mobile, the San Mateo, Calif. mobile game publisher, begins IPO trading today.
It sold 7.3 million common shares, and they begin trading today at $11.50 per share. The company raised about $84 million, and is valued at $327 million.
Venture investors New Enterprise Associates, BA Venture Partners, Globespan Capital Partners, Granite Global Ventures and Sienna Ventures backed the company with about $57 million.
The company is still losing money.
Horizon Therapeutics, stomach ulcer treatment co., raises $15M
Horizon Therapeutics, a Palo Alto company close to bringing its stomach ulcer drug into the third and last set of clinical trials, said it has raised $15 million in a second round of funding.
Its lead product is HZT-501, a “GI-friendly” prescription NSAID.

Game publisher Glu Mobile files for $92M IPO
Glu Mobile, a San Mateo publisher of mobile games, has filed for a $92 million initial public offering.
The company, originally known as Sorrent (we wrote about them here), has raised around $57 million in VC funding since 2001 from BA Venture Partners, Globespan Capital Partners, Granite Global Ventures, NEA and Sienna Ventures.
NComputing gets $8M for low-cost computer workstations
NComputing, a start-up that offers an inexpensive way to run multiple workstations from what is effectively a single PC, has raised $8 million from BA Venture Partners.
About billion users worldwide cannot afford computers, and so aren’t using them, the company says.
