BridgeWave lands $2.4M for wireless backhauling
BridgeWave Communications, a company that provides wireless backhauling services to free high-traffic networks from congestion, has raised $2.4 million of an anticipated $2.5 million round of equity, according to a filing with the SEC. Based in Santa Clara, Calif., the company is backed by Core Capital Partners, Intel Capital, Ampal-American Insrael, BreezeCOM, Cipio Partners, DRW Venture Partners, Jerusalem Venture Partners, MKS Ventures, Oak Investment Partners, Scientific-Atlanta, SDL Ventures, SeaPoint Ventures and West Steag Partners.
Three firms buy up 3i’s European portfolio
Investment firms Coller Capital and HarbourVest Partners teamed up over the weekend with venture house DFJ Esprit to buy 29 top-tier portfolio companies from the 3i Group’s European portfolio at discount prices.
Coller and HarbourVest are called “secondary market” firms because they buy stakes in companies from investment firms who made the initial investment in companies, and thus they become the second holders of assets.

Dune snags $8.3M more for networking chips
Dune Networks, provider of network chips used to scale data centers and carrier equipment, has added $8.3 million to its second round of funding from Evergreen Venture Partners, Berkeley Ventures, Aurum-SBC Ventures, Jerusalem Venture Partners and U.S. Venture Partners. Previously, the Sunnyvale, Calif. company had raised $12 million in the round.

PSS Systems, which dubs itself as “the standard for legal hold and management software” (basically document policy software), has closed a fourth round of funding
The plan is to use the money to expand PSS Systems’ legal governance product portfolio and its presence in the US and European markets. The company is not yet profitable, but expects to be this year.

Dune Networks takes $12M for ethernet switching platforms
A Sunnyvale, Calif. company that manufactures networking devices used in data centers and carrier’s ethernet switching platforms, Dune Networks was founded in 2000 and began selling its products four years later.
The company is its own fabless semiconductor supplier, but also has partnerships with companies including Altera, Intel and Lattice Semiconductor. It is currently making a profit, thought it has not disclosed the numbers.

Voltage raises $12M more for encryption technology
Voltage Security, a Palo Alto, Calif. company that offers encryption technology to large companies to protect their data, said it has raised $ 12 million fourth round of financing.
Trident Capital led the round with participation from existing investors including Hummer Winblad Venture Partners, Morgenthaler Ventures, Menlo Ventures, Cipio Partners and JAFCO Ventures. Peter T. Meekin, Managing Director at Trident Capital, joins the Voltage Board of Directors.

BroadLight, a supplier of “gigabit passive optical network” (GPON) semiconductors and software, said it has raised a $12 million fifth round of financing.
The round was led by Benchmark Capital, and included existing investors Azure Capital Partners, Broadcom, Cipio
Partners, Delta Ventures, Israel Seed Partners, Motorola Ventures, Star Ventures and
Tellabs.
BroadLight, of Mountain View, Calif., has raised about $50 million, but it is not yet profitable.

BroadLight, optical communications co, raises $12M more
Israeli optical communications start-up BroadLight Inc, which also has offices in Mountain View, Calif., has raised $12 million in its fifth round of financing.
Benchmark Capital led the round. Existing shareholders include Motorola Ventures, Azure Capital Partners, Delta Ventures, Israel Seed Partners, Star Ventures, Cipio Partners, Broadcom Corporation and Tellabs Inc.
BroadLight has raised $50 million since 2000.
DiBcom receives $27 million more to get dibs on mobile TV market
The mobile TV market is expected to have more than 130 million customers by 2011, according to Screen Digest.
So DiBcom, a France-based semiconductor-for-mobile-tv company has received another $27 million in funding from its many investors, this time adding French bank NATIXIS. The company says it will use the money to continue improving its TV-streaming technology, and to spread faster internationally to phones, laptops, cars and other devices around the world.
