GridPoint lands more funds for smarter utility use
GridPoint, one of the largest companies in the emerging smartgrid sector, announced that it has brought in an undisclosed sum from Craton Equity Partners. Already working with several investor-owned utilities like Duke Energy Corp. and Xcel Energy, GridPoint says its system automatically manages energy loads and storage, integrates renewable sources and can be used to power electric vehicles more efficiently.

Principle Energy lands $10M for biofuel in sub-Saharan Africa
Principle Energy Limited (PEL), a developer of biofuel projects in sub-Saharan Africa, just nabbed $10 million from cleantech fund Craton Equity Partners to build a sustainable sugarcane ethanol operation in Mozambique. The plant could produce up to 60 million gallons of ethanol per year with little to no carbon footprint, the company claims. Craton Equity Partners wraps up $191.5M cleantech fund
Los Angeles, Calif.-based Craton Equity Partners announced on Wednesday that it had finalized the third and final closing of its $191.5 million cleantech fund. The firm plans on investing in small, undercapitalized companies with robust emerging growth prospects; the sectors it will target include: renewable energy, alternative fuels, green building, water remediation and solid waste reduction and conversion technologies.

EnLink Geoenergy raises $30M for geothermal heat pump installations
Houston, Texas-based EnLink Geoenergy Services is tapping into investors’ growing appetite for geothermal energy to ramp up its development of geothermal heat pump (GHP) installations for residential, commercial and institutional settings.

GigaCrete, green building products company, raises $5M
GigaCrete, a Scottsdale, Arizona company that offers environmentally friendly cementious building products, has raised $5 million in a round of financing.
Craton Equity Partners, a Los Angeles clean-technology private equity fund, said it committed $3.5 million of the funding.
