Overtone raises $2.5 million to look at brand resonance

Overtone, a San Francisco-based company that keeps tabs on brand recognition and penetration, as well as customer experiences, for companies, has brought in $2.5 million of an expected $5.3 million round of equity, according to a filing with the SEC. Formerly called Island Data, the company is backed by Dolphin Equity Partners, Encinal Capital Management (now Whelan Capital Management) and ABS Ventures. It previously raised $11 million.

Airband books $3M for its fixed-wireless network

Airband, the Dallas-based provider of a fixed-wireless network for businesses, announced that it brought in $3 million in sixth-round funding from undisclosed investors to continue building out its existing network.

The nine-year-old company gives its clients access to broadband wireless data, voice over IP service, and other network management services. Currently, 3,500 businesses use Airband across 14 US markets.

Airband Communications Holdings raises $2.5 million for fixed-wireless services

Airband Communications Holdings offers fixed-wireless services for businesses (not as the name might suggest, an online game involving virtual bands).

The Dallas, Texas company has raised $2.5 million from Key Venture Partners, M/C Venture Partners, Crescendo Venture Management, Dolphin Equity Partners and The Sevin Rosen Funds.

InQ, provider of outsourced online chat for retailers, raises $5M

InQ, a Los Angeles, Calif. company that provides online chat customer service for companies’ web sites, said it has raised another $5 million in a fourth round of capital.

We wrote about this company here, explaining how it pops up a chat screen on Web sites to handhold customers through their purchase decisions. It provides the service to any company that wants it, and gets paid only when products are sold.
