Trilliant buys SkyPilot to extend its smart grid reach
Trilliant, provider of devices and networks that allow smart meters to beam energy data directly to utilities, has extended its reach with the acquisition of SkyPilot Networks, provider of mesh broadband coverage. No financial terms have been disclosed. Both companies had previously raised a substantial amount of capital.

Conformiq raises $4.2M to automate software tests
Conformiq, a Saratoga, Calif.-based company that automates the generation of tests for software products, announced that it’s brought in $4.2 million in a round of venture capital led by Nexit Ventures and Finnish Industry Investment, reports VentureWire. It claims that its lead product, Conformiq Qtronic, not only creates tests without any work on the part of the user but also provides documentation and related executable scripts.

Ekahau takes in $6M for Wi-Fi tracking tech
Ekahau, a Saratoga, Calif., developer of Wi-Fi based real-time location systems, raised $6 million in a recent funding round. Several large international investors, including Nexit Ventures, Irish Life International, Startup Fund I-Ky and 3M, took part in the round.

Ecrio, a Cupertino, Ca. provider of real-time communications software for mobile phones, has raised $14.5 million of a planned $25 million round, according to a regulatory filing first reported by PE Wire.
Ecrio specializes in things like picture messaging, mobile TV, push to talk, VoIP, audio, video streaming, presence and availability — all of which are either already incorporated into or being planned for the latest generation of Internet-connected phones.
