Barosense, maker of a device to treat obesity without invasive surgery, has brought in $27 million of a targeted $30 million fourth round of funding that it plans to use to commercialize its product, reports PE Hub. Barosense, creator of a minimally-invasive device that can treat obesity, has announced its intent to raise $30 million in a fourth round of funding to commercialize its product. Already many of its existing investors have pledged to provide half that amount, including Delphi Ventures, Frazier Healthcare Ventures, Invesco Private Capital, RWI Ventures, Synergy Life Science Partners and Wharton Ventures.

Hearing aid maker Sonitus lands $13.5M

Sonitus Medical, a company that makes a hearing device to treat single-sided deafness, just brought in $13.5 million in second-round funding to commercialize its flagship product, reports VentureWire. Voyage Medical, which is developing new treatment for a heart condition called atrial fibrillation, has raised $22 million in a second round of financing. New investor Three Arch Partners led the round, with participation from Kleiner Perkins Caulfield & Byers (also a new investor) and existing investor RWI Ventures, according to VentureWire.

Red Condor, a Rohnert Park, Calif. anti-email spam company, has raised an additional $7.7 million in a first round of funding led by venture capital firms ATA Ventures and RWI Ventures. It included $2 million in debt, from Square 1 Bank.

Therative raises $9M for pimple-device ads

Therative, a Livermore, Calif., medical-device maker, raised $9 million in a third round of financing, largely to fund television ads for its consumer-oriented acne product.

Therative makes and markets a pimple-clearing device called ThermaClear, which received FDA “clearance” for direct consumer sales last year. The device releases pulses of heat designed to kill bacteria inside pimples, supposedly in a manner similar to laser treatments offered by dermatologists. The company sells ThermaClear over the Internet for $149.95.

Therative, acne treatment co., raises more cash

Therative, a Livermore, Calif. company that makes a medical device to treat acne, said it has raised a second round of financing, and received approval from the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) to market the device.

The hand-held device is called ThermaClear. The additional cash amount wasn’t disclosed, however the company said (see press release) that total amount raised is $5 million.

Attune Systems raises $14M for a network file virtualization product

Attune Systems, a Santa Clara start-up offering a way to manage network server files with virtualization technology, said it has received $14 million in a new venture funding round led by RWI Ventures.

The value of the company increased with the latest round, it said.

Also participating in the round were GF Private Equity Group as a new investor, and existing investors Alloy Ventures, QTV Capital, Rock Creek Capital and Shea Ventures.
