OpSource scores $10M for on-demand app delivery
OpSource, provider of software-as-a-service and web applications for a variety of functions, just raked in $10 million in fifth-round funding from Nippon Telegraph and Telephone (NTT), Velocity Venture Capital, Key Venture Partners, Crosslink Capital and Artiman Ventures to continue expanding its software portfolio. Its flagship product, called OpSource On-Demand, lets application developers automatically deliver their own products to clients without investing in the expensive infrastructure usually required to deploy them.

Marquiss Wind Power acquires Cirrus Technologies
Folsom, Calif.-based Marquiss Wind Power, a manufacturer of roof-top wind turbines, has scooped up Carson City, Nev.-based Cirrus Technologies, a player in the small wind sector. The holder of 7 patents, Cirrus is testing its turbine technology for a major utility.

Marquiss Wind Power raises $1.3M for roof-top turbines
Most wind turbine manufacturers stick with giant, commercial-scale turbines, but Marquiss Wind Power is trying to popularize a roof-top turbine suitable for use by ordinary businesses.
The company’s “ducted” wind turbine looks a bit like a 19 foot tall box fan. Despite its clunky appearance, it’s capable of re-orienting itself according to the direction of air flow, while the ducting is intended to increase wind speed as it approaches the blades.

Velocity Venture Capital closes $15M Sacramento-area fund
The $15 million fund, aimed at seed and early-stage investments near Sacramento, Calif., about a two hour drive from Silicon Valley, will be Velocity Venture Capital’s second. The firm says it typically makes placements ranging from $100,000 to $3.5 million.

Multimedia presentation software Freepath raises $1.5 million
