Meredith gives Real Girls a shot in the arm
Social networking for women got a boost yesterday as media conglomerate Meredith Corp. acquired an undisclosed minority stake in Real Girls Media Network. The San Francisco-based network encompasses about 30 sites and portals for women — notably, DivineCaroline, a largely user-generated advice page.

Open-source mobile app server co., Funambol, raises $5.35M
Funambol, a Redwood City, Calif. developer of open-source mobile application servers, has secured $5.35 million of a $10 million Series B round, according to a regulatory filing cited by PE Week. Return backers include HIG Ventures and Walden Ventures.
