Penguin Computing snaps up $1.5M for Linux cluster virtualization

Penguin Computing, a San Francisco-based provider of Linux cluster virtualization, has just raised $1.5 million of an expected $2 million round of convertible promissory notes and securities, according to a filing with the SEC. It is backed by San Francisco Equity Partners, Convergence Partners, vSpring Capital and Weber Capital.

Shareholders include vSpring Capital, San Francisco Equity Partners, Weber Capital and Convergence Partners.

Penguin Computing, a company that sells Linux cluster virtualization, which makes groups of Linux servers appear and act like a single virtual system, has raised $9 million more in funding.

The advantage of cluster virtualization is that it allows control of thousands of systems as if they were a single system, which simplifies management.
