YCombinator, the Silicon Valley start-up incubator, launched its ninth class of companies today. Here is the initial list of companies. (Some are in stealth and we’ll report on them later in the year as they launch.):

You’ve probably noticed that the comments on this site aren’t your typical WordPress-run blog default comments. Instead, they’re run by a third party startup called Disqus. We use this because not only does it offer nice avatars and threaded comments, but also because Disqus is expanding conversations beyond a simple stand-alone comment on one site into truer interaction throughout the web. Weebly wants to help you design blogs

Weebly, the free AJAX website creator, has just raised a $650K angel round and launched a way for you to create blogs from within your site.

The move pits the young San Francisco company, which has garnered about 25,000 users, against entrenched players like Google’s Blogger, Automatic’s WordPress and SixApart’s TypePad — each of which have millions of users.
