Open-source cloud software provider Red Hat has finally launched its OpenShift Platform-as-a-Service for enterprise customers, the company announced today.

Unlike other cloud events, the customers themselves are front and center. Their discussions with vendors and other experts give you rare insights into what really works, who’s buying what, and where the industry is going. CloudBeat takes place Nov. 28-29 in Redwood City, Calif. Register today!

OpenShift previously was only available to individual developers and not as a corporate product, so it was delagated to be a small player in the quickly growing PaaS market.

Now OpenShift Enterprise will provide businesses with an on-premise PaaS that can be installed in data centers or private, public, or hybrid clouds. And it could easily become a more popular solution as more businesses explore using PaaS to develop applications in the cloud.

“We’re excited to offer our enterprise customers the only comprehensive, open, on-premise PaaS offering ready for enterprise deployment today with OpenShift Enterprise,” OpenShift GM Ashesh Badani said in a statement. “This product offers our customers further freedom and choice in the cloud with the backing of Red Hat’s full stack and open source leadership. Developers are now able to choose among leading application development languages and tools for the job, and IT operations leaders can choose to deliver these application stacks to their enterprise on their choice of clouds in compliance with their security, governance and compliance requirements.”
