Netflix will let subscribers in the United States connect their profiles to Facebook as soon as President Obama signs a popular bill into law, the company confirmed today.
Streaming video service Netflix recently appealed to a panel of U.S. senators to update an old law that forbids the company from launching a Facebook application within the country.
Dish Network landed the winning bid, valued at around $320 million, for Blockbuster in its bankruptcy auction. The company actually expects to pay around $228 million in cash — after “certain adjustments” are made at the deal’s closing — for the rental chain, according to an announcement made this morning.
Video rental and streaming service Netflix paid about $115 million in its most recent quarter to acquire new content for its online streaming video library, according to its earnings reports released today. The company’s quarterly profit jumped by about 27 percent year-over-year last quarter.
