So you were just about to buy that cool Treo 600? Hold it! There’s a trio of new PDA/phones just about to come out in time for the Christmas season, and it’s going to make your life even tougher. First, there are the leaks about a coming Treo 610, likely to ship around October, according to rumors. It’ll reportedly have a higher resolution screen, removable battery, and a better camera. Check out the photos, and other comments on the discussion boards at http://www.treocentral.com, and an overview of the reports at http://www.treocentral.com/content/Stories/322-1.htm. Unfortunately, we haven’t been able to confirm any of this.
Then there’s the new Sidekick II, a vast improvement on the first Sidekick, according those who have tested in so far. And most recently, this week RIM unveiled its latest Blackberry, and the New York Times gave it an effusive review, (click here, though you may need a subscription), though perhaps a bit too effusive — given that it didn’t really delve into how the phone compared to the Sidekick II or the Treo. If you were on the fence before the latest announcements, get ready to stay there for a bit — until you can try out these latest gadgets. Our colleague Dan Gillmor, a self-professed gadget freak, wasn’t any help. When we asked him for his recommendation, he cajoled us “Try them out!”
