Webwag
, yet another “personalized homepage” company, has launched. It is run by Franck Poisson, who ran Google’s operations in France between 2002 and 2004.

It is a rival for the other Ajax-filled homepage sites Netvibes and Pageflakes, but so far we have yet to see anything that is really different from those two leaders.

There is a write up at AlarmClock euro about the company.

Poisson started his work months ago in France, but launched last week from its new US headquarters in Palo Alto.

These homepages, as discussed before, allow users to access content by pulling into a page automatically via RSS subscriptions. The user can then format the content around the page as they wish.

According to AlarmClock, Poisson started the company with his own money, and then help from some undisclosed “angels.” The unanswered question about these sites is how they plan to make money. WebWag is apparently hoping to use search advertising.
