tellytopia.jpgTellyTopia is a secretive Silicon Valley startup that claims it can help give cable television providers superior delivery of their content, in the face of increased user generated content from places like YouTube.

TellyTopia, of Santa Clara, Calif., hasn’t launched yet, but it is signing up companies for trials of its services, according to founder Kshitij Kumar, who said the company had just raised $1.5 million in a second round of funding from Indianapolis engineering company Trilithic. Kumar said the cash will be used for deployments and field trials of its IP-based products.

The company says it is developing a cross-platform software, serving as a “master translator” for services like video, which ride on multiple screens and screen sizes, including televisions, PCs, and portable devices. The company also says it wants to let cable and telco providers ensure a common experience regardless of the kind of device the customer is watching the video on.

We’ll update when we find out more.
