The beamME Pitch software comes courtesy of rmbrME, a New York company headed by Gabe Zichermann, who we’ve written about frequently for his views on funware. This new beamME pitch software adds to rmbrME’s growing list of fun apps.
With beamME Pitch, you can wirelessly transfer a document from your iPhone or iPod Touch to someone nearby. The other person can receive the pitch on an iPhone, BlackBerry, Google Android phone, Palm, Windows Mobile, Mac, or a PC. You can even send material using Twitter, text message, or email by beaming to an @UserID, and the recipient gets the document or business card privately. The recipient has to accept the pitch. You can’t just randomly beam your sales pitch to strangers.
The supported documents include Word, PowerPoint, PDF brochure, and Text. You can instantly transfer to an iPhone/iPod Touch or a Bluetooth-equipped PC. The rmbrME folks automatically format the document to be legible on most devices.
The iPhone itself doesn’t support easy file uploading. So to make this work, the company asks you to upload your document ahead of time to rmbrME’s own servers in a standard format using rmbrME’s own tool. The company pledges to keep your document private. When you want to send the document, you can describe the destination and then rmbrME routes it to the right place.
The document is accompanied by your vCard, an electronic identification tag, and you can customize the introductory copy. The company says beamME Pitch is for sales professionals, marketers, executives, and anyone who has a marketing document they routinely send to new contacts.
The beamME Pitch software goes with beamME, which lets you share business cards, and beamME Pro, which lets you automatically tag every new contact with the place where you met, using the iPhone’s geo-location system –- and view that new contact on a map. Your own private information, however, is not shared with others.
