May 7th, 2009. A day which will live in infamy.
Bitmob is active, and already a triumph, mainly due to the high caliber of Contributors (and me) that Dan and Demian have press-ganged into writing for them, but mainly because of the soothing pea-green color scheme and cheeky space invader iconography.
Hi, I’m David, and I’m a strategy guide writer. I’ve done this even before myself and Demian Linn fled from incite video gaming, an abject embarrassment of a magazine venture I promised Demian never to mention again.
I’ve been utilizing 15th century printing press technology since 1997, when I wrote the Official GameFan Books guide to Turok: Dinosaur Hunter. It came out four months late due to the designer having a nervous breakdown. Boy do I have stories about GameFan, at least a couple of which are entertaining. And boy, can I not tell any of the juicer ones to you, as blood brothers never squeal on each other.
I’ve been tremendously fortunate over the last ten years to be able to write official guides for some really rather special games, like Metal Gear Solid, Zelda, Half-Life 2, and Fallout 3. In future blogs, I’ll try and steer the conversation away from pimping out my latest projects (Prototype), and pepper the commentary with stories from the heady days of gaming before it was seen as a real industry, larks about the general state of gaming, and non-NDA ruining information on the games I’m currently playing. Oh, and also the time I interviewed Roscoe P. Coltraine about the Dukes of Hazzard video game, and he challenged me to a bout of Rainbow Six.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ve an infected population of Manhattan to virtually kill with all manner of spiky tendrils.
