Every once and awhile a small developer pops up and starts making a name for itself. Really the only other two to really take of like Twisted Pixel so far has been Pop Cap and NinjaBee Games. So why do I think Twisted Pixel is doing great work is really why I came to talk.
Even though Twisted Pixel does side work for a MMO and full retail games I am only going to talk about there XBLA games. I know I been wanting more Platform Games and before this developer came on site we really had only one fit that bill with Cloning Clyde. It appears this company is creatively thinking how to bring back this genre.
First true testimate that was released was The MAW. A big Purple eating one eyed alien who kicked butt and took names. Was this game short? Yes it was in ways, but it had a pick up and play style that fit the bill for 800 MS Points. Overall I think they did a wonderful nice game for people of all ages. My 4yr old when this first came out had me play this for her once a day. The reason I played and she didn’t was she does not realize what puzzles are.
Now I know many companies do Down Load Content, but I really think Twisted Pixel did something with The MAW DLC. First they put DLC at 100 MS points for each of there new stories that were added to the game. Now in these extended stories there was a great value worth more then that. I really like how they keep the DLC cheap enough everyone could get them with out complaints. With them keeping the DLC at 100 ms points I honestly think other developers should take a look at how much content they gave us. If I know this company is going to give us a lot of content for 100 MS points and another company has DLC for 240 MS points. Since I know Twisted Pixel gives better DLC my money will be on them every time.
With there second game coming out called Splosion Man during the Summer of Arcade with microsoft. I am going to put in this video I found on YouTube and say nothing more about it.[video:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AmNPMXR_J9o 300×100]
Now I do wish this developer would one day make a PSN game, but like so many good XBLA developers they just like to stay where the prodominate money is. I can’t blame them, but from a guy who is trying to go PS3 directly it is hard with all these smaller games that look great. Thought everyone if they were not aware of this Developer maybe they should be on your radar some where.
