We weren’t knocked over by Palm’s modestly-upgraded Pre Plus and Pixi Plus on Thursday. But investors were wowed by Palm’s deal to sell the phones through Verizon, America’s biggest wireless carrier. They also responded to Palm’s expanded program to get software developers to build apps for its Web OS operating system platform.
“Palm’s growing global distribution and developer momentum are a clear signal to us of Palm’s unique strengths and differentiation amidst competition, and bodes well for future smartphone leadership,” RBC analyst Mike Abramsky said in a research report picked up by Reuters.
