CAT scannerGraphic processing units (GPU) used in games help reduce radiation levels in CAT scans. Researchers at the University of California, San Diego employed video cards from Nvidia that drastically cut down the time required to process images taken from a medical scan, resulting in diminished exposure to the radiation emitted from the scanning beams.
