Street Fight, a trade publication geared toward businesses that focus on hyper-local deals, has closed an undisclosed funding round, VentureBeat has learned.

The publication covers businesses like AOL’s Patch, which reports on local businesses and news, and Groupon, which delivers targeted daily deals for specific geographic areas. The publication bills itself as a resource for business models and news about hyper-local businesses, Street Fight co-founder Laura Rich told VentureBeat.

“We’re hoping to close another round of funding in December, but for now we’ll be focusing on the Summit and other initiatives like our research division and industry directory and the Street Fight website,” she said. “We think we’re like those ‘speedboats zipping around the behemoths’ that David Carr mentioned in his column on Monday.”

The Street Fight team consists of Rich, formerly a reporter with Condé Nast’s Portfolio and The Industry Standard, and David Hirschman, former news editor of Mediabistro and online editor of Editor & Publisher.

Street Fight is based in New York, N.Y. Most of the funding is geared toward the company’s upcoming conference in New York, the Street Fight Summit, which will focus on hyper-local business and include speakers from companies like Foursquare. Larry Kramer, former CEO of Marketwatch.com, and Jeff Lundwall, managing partner at Mercury Group and former Condé Nast publisher, are investors in the current round of funding.
