Zoosk, an online dating site with the features of a social network, launched Couple Profiles today.
Conventional wisdom would suggest that anyone who discovers the love of their life using an online dating service would then no longer have any use for said service. Romantic social network Zoosk is hoping to change that with their new Couple Profiles, which has gamification features, or game-like rewards in non-game applications.
This new feature was hinted at in an interview GamesBeat conducted with Zoosk CEO Shayan Zadeh in March, where he stated, “We see this is a natural expansion of our offering, so once we help you find somebody and transition to a new phase in your romantic life, we provide continued support to help build on this new relationship.”
These new profiles would allow two people to create a page where they could document their relationship by uploading pictures and sharing major milestones in their new partnership, such as anniversaries. The couple could then use this profile to share their romantic moments with other Zoosk members or to gather them conveniently for their own keepsake.
Zoosk was founded in 2007 by Zaden and Alex Mehr, a former engineer for NASA. Zoosk was the result of their efforts to combine social networking with online dating. The new Couple Profiles is an attempt by the San Francisco-based company to keep formerly single users on the site once they hook up with other members.
