RadioShack CEO Jim Gooch will step down from his role at the struggling electronics retailer about a year after he took the top job.

“I would like to thank my colleagues on the Board and everyone at the Company for their strong support,” Gooch said in a canned statement. “I wish them all great success in the future.”

Executive VP and CFO Dorvin Lively will step in as interim CEO while the company’s board searches for a new CEO.

RadioShack, like Best Buy, has had a tough time in recent years competing with online retailers — especially Amazon — that can offer better deals and quick delivery. RadioShack still operates 4,700 stores in the U.S. and Mexico, 1,500 U.S. wireless phone centers, and about 1,100 other outlets around the world.
