LAS VEGAS–(BUSINESS WIRE)–January 6, 2014–

Canopy ( announced today a new iPhone® case featuring “variable pressure technology” that will revolutionize the way people interact with apps on smartphones. The new SensusTM App-Enhancing Case expands the user interface from the front screen to the sides and entire back of the iPhone. Canopy’s team is demonstrating the product to the global technology community at International CES here, January 7-10, 2014.

“Our new variable pressure technology provides developers and users alike with multiple input methods they’ve never before experienced,” said Andrew Kamin-Lyndgaard, Canopy cofounder and CEO. “It gives interaction with apps an entirely new variable and dimension.”

Pressure-Sensitive Sensor Technology

The new mobile device case, initially for the iPhone® 5/5S, detects the level of pressure the user is applying with each touch and uses that data to identify user intent and significantly enhance the usability and interactivity of mobile apps.

“It adds analog data to your touch,” said Joel Stewart, Canopy VP of Engineering. “Beyond its application for games and productivity apps, it truly is a life-changing technology that extends into the accessibility market. Apple’s devices have had a profound impact on the visually impaired, and the Sensus case enhances iOS with additional ways to control zooming, navigation, and more.” He added that Sensus developer kits are now shipping to the company’s large, growing community of approved developers.
