It turns out that enormous Yoshis are a multinational problem.
Super Smash Bros. for 3DS debuted earlier this month in Japan, and players there have uncovered at least one “big” bug that I tested and discovered in the North American version as well.
The glitch happens when players use Yoshi to swallow and spit out other characters as an egg in the special Multi-Man Mode in the four-player fighting game. Every time players squat out the egg, the opponent pops out larger and larger until eventually he is bigger than the entire stage. News of the bug appeared this morning, and I decided to check our version to see if I could re-create it in the North American release, which isn’t due out until Oct. 3.
I was able to get the exact same results, and you can check out our video evidence below for proof:
I’m using a downloaded version of Super Smash Bros. for 3DS with the latest update. I asked Nintendo if it’s going to update the game to fix this bug, and I’m awaiting a response. Honestly, it would bum us out if Nintendo fixed this. It doesn’t actually introduce any problems in the competitive modes, and it doesn’t prevent players from succeeding in this particular challenge.
Super Smash Bros. for 3DS is a great game. Check out our review — we loved everything about the game, and I can assure you that this bug doesn’t hurt it one bit.
