Yahoo Mail just issued an update to its iOS app that will help you keep an eye on your goods while they’re still in transit.

In the Yahoo Today section of the mobile app users can track packages from Amazon, eBay, Zappos, Target, Best Buy, Macy’s and others. Yahoo Mail will push out a notification when your stuff is shipped out and when it’s scheduled to arrive.

Along with tracked shipments, Yahoo is giving users more control over the content that’s displayed in Yahoo Today — usually a mix of posts from around Yahoo’s many sites. Users can now click on the gear icon in the upper lefthand corner of the screen to reveal the Edit Yahoo Today option, which lets users choose a few broad categories that will inform what news gets displayed in their Today feed.

This is just Yahoo’s latest move to build a tailored user experience. CEO Marisa Mayer promised in her third quarter earnings call that the company would work towards building a narrative around mobile products and user experience personalization. Since then Yahoo has rolled out flight and event notifications, a personalized news feed that runs next to your mail in-box, and content streams in its magazine apps that tailor to your geolocation.
