TinyCo has had a big hit with its mobile game Family Guy: The Quest for Stuff, based on the popular animated comedy show. And now it is kicking off a special in-game event with a Star Trek theme of “Boldly Going Nowhere.”
We all know that brands are big with successes — look at the celebrity-branded game Kim Kardashian: Hollywood — in the nearly $30 billion mobile gaming market. So now the next big thing appears to be … brands on top of brands.
The special Star Trek event runs inside the Family Guy game from today through April 30. In the event, the USS Enterprise and its crew set an emergency course back in time for Earth, year 2015, on a mission to protect baby Stewie – whose future self creates technology that threatens the Borg’s very existence. With a baby Borg named Bertram in hot pursuit of Stewie, Commander William Riker enlists Peter Griffin to repair the Enterprise, save the crew, and protect the future of mankind.
Yes, it sounds silly. But TinyCo, Fox Digital Entertainment, and CBS Interactive may be laughing all the way to the bank.
The episode features Star Trek crew members like Captain Picard, Commander Data, Lt. Worf, Chief Engineer Geordi La Forge, and even Captain James Kirk – all voiced by the original actors. Sadly, Leonard Nimoy passed away recently and won’t be able to reprise his role as Spock.
Family Guy: The Quest for Stuff is available for free download on the App Store, Google Play, and Amazon Appstore.
