Yesterday Japan-based news aggregating startup SmartNews said it snagged $10 million to open up an office in San Francisco and attract top machine-learning engineers.
SmartNews aggregates news from around the web and through partnerships with media outlets and then serves up stories based on machine learning. The app works both online and offline, so you can still access stories when you’re not connected to a network — much like Flipboard.
ProsperWorks announced today that the company has raised $7.5 million in series A financing.
True Ventures lead the round, joined by existing investors Bloomberg Beta, Crunchfund, and other high-profile angel investors. To date, ProsperWorks has raised a total of $10 million in equity.
