Yes, Hillary Clinton is officially running for president. No, she didn’t announce the news first on Twitter.

The official confirmation arrived via email and on Clinton’s campaign site — despite reports that the big (yet unsurprising) news would break on Twitter.

Clinton did tweet a little later, though:

Had Clinton made a point to kick off the campaign on Twitter, it would’ve been something of an endorsement for Costolo and Co.

But Clinton’s decision to ever-so-slightly deprioritize Twitter isn’t a blow to the social network. Hell, it’s hardly a sign of anything at all. The news hit Twitter in other ways as soon as Clinton’s campaign site went live.

These days, no major political campaign in the U.S. will ignore a social network like Twitter. And there’s really no sign that Clinton’s social strategy will differ greatly from Obama’s playbook.

She’ll give all the crowd favorites (Facebook, Twitter, YouTubemaybe Medium) attention in due time.
