Step aside, Kim Kardashian. Britney Spears wants a piece of the mobile action.
The singer, currently enjoying a career renaissance in Las Vegas, has teamed up with Glu Mobile — the team behind the successful Kim Kardashian: Hollywood title — in a five-year licensing deal. It will see Glu Mobile release a mobile game where players interact with Spears and “experience the glitz and glamour of the entertainment business.” It’s the latest example of a celebrity getting involved in a mobile-gaming industry worth an estimated $30.3 billion this year.
Kim Kardashian: Hollywood, released back in June 2014, has been a big hit for Glu and a great money-earner for Kardashian, given her rumored 45 percent cut of the profits. The Android and iOS game made $74.3 million in 2014 and $21.3 million during the first quarter of 2015.
Chinese Internet giant Tencent just bought a 14.6 percent stake in Glu for $126 million, valuing the company at around $863 million.

“I am thrilled to add Grammy Award-winning legend Britney Spears to Glu’s growing list of partners as we continue to expand our celebrity gaming platform,” said Glu chief executive officer Niccolo de Masi in a statement. “We anticipate the title resonating tremendously with Ms. Spears’ nearly 90 million multi-generational social followers around the world.”
